Jeff Edwards Visit 29th August

29th August 2006 :

VP for Asia Pacific, Mr. Jeffrey Edward came to the plant.
The first time he came in Feb '05 and delivered Chairman Awards for WRM Seat Project (our Team Rally presentation project).
He was one of the judges for Team Rally. He delivered the Best Team Spirit plaque on award night.

This time he came and deliver Merit Award to JCAI and JCAC. (2nd pixture from top)

Backdrop Making

Working together with Kayagraphics, design started Aug 7th.
Concept : GEN2 Showroom on left, JCI Malaysia on right side.
Dimension : 16' x 7'
The top most picture is just a sample for testing the material.

Printing by Aug 25th ..delayed to Aug29th because printing quality.
Delivery Aug30th
Set up in Week 1 Sept..the challenge is to set up in 5 minutes time...

USA Visa - Successful on Aug 17th

USA Visa application - tested our teamwork, and how good we communicate.

Aug 16th...Photo taking, special 50mm photo, recommended shop only.
Aug 17th...Interview ! Early morning trip US Embassy. 2 company cars, and Aaron on his own car

Some incidences :

• We left the plant at 6:50 am for 8:40am appointment. 2 members met us half way
• One of the car lost its way in KL, and got stuck in traffic jam
• We missed the 8:40am slot and re-scheduled for 10:30 am. To steal time, Aaron and Shamsul were like robbers . They rushed to RHB with some cash to make payment for everyone.
• Jamilah at first was not allowed to enter Embassy. She had to guard all personal items in a basket (see photo). Later when Aaron and Shamsul got back from RHB, the security let her in.
• Ema was the first to be interviewed.

11:15 am - Completed the interview successfully !
On the way back, two cars lost it's way...

Video Shooting

Video shooting completed on Monday Aug 14th.
Total : 3.5 days .
This task really tested our members' commmitment, punctuality, and preparedness .

Schedule :
10th Aug - Team Intro, company surrounding, WRM car

11th Aug - Sewing Line, WRM Assy Line, Robot area.
Friday was gloomy day as there was a "special State of Nation" assembly. Our plan was shortened by 30 minutes.

14th Aug - Supplier scene, Malaysia Boleh scene, and Seat Tear Down Scene. This ended at about 6:00 pm.

Guess?

• Who has the most shot at Seat Tear down scene because he couldn't give a serious face..
• According to Azlan, what was the best shoot for the whole 3 days..?

The whole video was 50 minutes, and the final product will be edited to 15 minutes.

Now we understand why a 2-hour film takes 90 days+ to make, and why undisciplined artists are troublesome.

Meeting at Pizza Hut..

To have fresh air, fresh ideas, and celebration of props completion we had dinner at Pizza Hut on Wednesday evening, 9th Aug .

Kak Nor and super-busy Aris could not make it.
Fieza introduced her partner too .

Seriously, we discussed new meeting time, reinforce system denda, and laptop solution for Hafizan.

08/08/06 Real LAST day for props

With special request to all HODs, everyone got together to finish the props!
We spent 3.5 hrs on 07/08 and 6 hours on 08/08.
The last one to complete is fishbone.
It now 98% completion. What's left are backdrop and Option dancers.

Visa application on 4th August 2006

To capture historical moments ..

All first timers to USA filled in Visa application form at HR office.

The famous "Mr Heong Chee Hong" acts as Temporary Immigration Officer.

We found out that we will be staying at Disney World Contemporary Resorts, Buena Vista Orlando.

Hooray ! Budget Approved

Historical date 030806 .
We are relieved and happy that the management has approved our requests for $$.
Everything look simple but when we put all numbers on paper they are BIG.
(A, E, H, S and even J sudah berangan naik Business Class, tapi malangnya...)

Today, we worked happily on the last 10% of props..Week Indicator, Teamwork banner. Table curtain with JCI rings has been completed !See the top most photo...Ema and FIeza have done a lot too and should be in the photo. (Ema has Blue Sky and Fieza has customer issue to handle today).
Kak Nor sow the letters at home...2 days each banner.

Week indicator follows JC Yanfeng idea...(curi idea orang lagi). That is to replace the big clock last time that was difficult to understand by the jury.

Fruitful visit to Proton COE

Some of us visited Proton Center of Excellence to take picture of "polished" GEN2. That will be used in our backdrop design. Of course we took time to sit in those nice cars.
